This is the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, a chronicle about ambition, courage, and how an act of apparent madness can change the fate of a family plunged into misery. On the outskirts of a village where the land was so poor it barely fed the sparrows, lived a widow with her only son, Jack. They were so humble that their most valuable possession was not gold or land, but an old, scrawny cow named Milky White. But a winter so harsh arrived that the cow stopped giving milk, and hunger began to gnaw at the stomach walls of Jack and his mother. With tears in her eyes, the woman asked her son to take the animal to the market to sell it: "Son, make sure to bring back a good bag of coins, or we won't survive the month."
