Long ago, in a small house attached to a magic garden, lived a man and a woman. The garden, surrounded by a very high wall, belonged to a sorceress feared throughout the region, whom no one dared to defy. One day, the woman felt an irresistible craving, an uncontrollable desire for rampions, a kind of wild lettuce that grew in that enchanted garden. Her longing was so strong that she languished, threatening to die if she did not taste them. Her husband, desperate to save her, decided one night to climb the wall and steal some rampions.
